Layton Records Double Double In Loss

Layton Records Double Double In Loss

Coming off a tough conference opener versus Columbia Basin College, the Lady Vikes had a quick turnaround as they hit the road on Wednesday January 10th to take on the Spokane Falls Sasquatch.

BBCC has tended to get off to slow starts offensively and versus the Squatch was no different. Be out shot by 15% from the floor put le Lady Vikes in an early hole being down 22-14 after the first 10 minutes. Entering the second quarter Big Bend hoped to get the offense going to close the gap going into half time but, The Falls had other plans out shooting the Lady Vikes 25% in the second quarter building their lead to 14 going into the break with a score of 45-31. The BBCC defense came to play in the third quarter holding Spokane to 28% shooting allowing Big Bend to close the gap to 13 going into the final 10 minutes. BBCC came out on top in the fourth quarter outscoring The Falls 21-16 in the final frame but were unable to overcome the half time deficit resulting in a loss by a score of 76-68. A tough 8 point loss which could have gone either way with BBCC going 14-22 from the freethrow line and 4-25 from deep could have changed the end result of the competition.

Riley Layton led the Viking offense recording a double double with 15 points and 10 rebounds with Katie Hasen dropping a bakers dozen in points wrapped up by Kali Kast chipping in with 11 points and 8 rebounds. The Lady Vikes hope to fine tune their shooting along with limiting turnovers to allow tight games to fall in their favor.
