Shooting Struggles Sink Lady Vikes

After and up and down preseason, the Lady Vikes hoped to get off on the right foot as they traveled to Pasco, WA to battle it out versus the Columbia Basin College Hawks.

BBCC came out of the gate slow going 3-15 from the floor in the first quarter while their counterpart shot over 50% from the floor putting the Lady Vikes in an early 25-9 hole after the first ten minutes of play. The Lady Vikes cleaned up their shooting in the second quarter approaching 50% from the floor but could not keep pace with the high powered Hawks offense who managed to to match the previous quarter of 25 points going into half time with the Hawks leading BBCC by a score of 50-24.

Understanding that the defense would need to step up along with the fact that the offense would need to be firing on all cylinders if there was any hope for the Lady Vikes to comeback. BBCC took the floor and continued to struggle offensivly going 3-20 from the floor in the 3rd quarter putting the game out of reach as BBCC trailed by 38 going into the final 10 minutes. The fourth quarter showed improvement from the third shooting 35% from the floor, but unfortunately the Lady Vikes were unable to complete the comeback dropping their first conference game by a score of 89-42.

BBCC hopes to right the ship as they travel to Spokane, WA to take on the Sasquatch on Wednesday January 10th.
