Lady Vikes Prep For Preseason Finale

Lady Vikes Prep For Preseason Finale

Coming off of a blow out victory versus Northwest Indian College on Tuesday, the Lady Vikes hoped to use that momentum going into the NWAC Crossover Tournament in Oregon City, OR.

The weekend began with BBCC facing off versus Bellevue College on Friday December 15th. The Lady Vikings defense had been on a tear holding NWIC to single digits in all four quarters and hoped for another stellar showing to start off the weekend. BBCC picked up right where they had left off holding Bellevue to just 8 points in the first quarter and built a 9 point lead going into half time. The Lady Vikes managed to shoot well from the field netting 46% of their shots while holding the Bulldogs to 39% shooting from the floor. With stellar offense and defense the Lady Vikes were able to cruise to a 67-59 victory to begin the weekend. Katie Hansen led the way with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists while Kali Kast flirted with a triple double scoring 12 points, collecting 10 boards and dishing out 6 assists in the win.

Hoping to collect their third win in a row, Big Bend faced off versus Clackamas Community College the following day. Unfortunately, the Lady Viking defense was outmatched by the Cougar offense as Clackamas managed 28 more shots than BBCC. With a significantly higher amount of offensive opportunities, shooting percentages were not a factor. Although the shooting percentages from the floor were similar, Clackamas was able to coast to a 31 point victory. Matty Woolf led the way for the Viking offense with 13 points on 5-9 shooting, while collecting 6rebounds and dishing out 5 assists while no other Lady Vike was able to crack double digit points.

In a similar situation as the men, it came down to the final day to determine if they would head home with a winning or losing record. BBCC would take on South Puget Sound in the third and final game of the weekend. A back and forth battle from the get go had the Lady Vikes going into half time down 31-30 after they struggled shooting in the second quarter. After another tough quarter shooting BBCC was fortunate to be leading going into the fourth quarter 44-42. Big Bend was able to clean up the shooting in the fourth quarter shooting 44% but South Puget Sound put together their best quarter of the game racking up 24 points to defeat BBCC 66-62. Katie Hansen put together another stellar showing scoring 19 points, with 5 rebounds and 3 assists while Matty Woolf recorded 7 points, 10 boards and 7 assists in the loss.

The Lady Vikes prepare for yet another road tournament this upcoming weekend as they travel to Skagit Community College to compete in the SVC Holiday Classic in another 3 game set. As always, keep up with the Lady Vikings on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram, as well as through the NWACSports Network's livestream video platform, where available.
