Lady Vikings Exact Revenge

Lady Vikings Exact Revenge

Propelled by a 13-point half-time lead and a stifling defense that held the visiting Walla Walla Community College Lady Warriors to 11% from three-point range, the Big Bend Community College Lady Vikings basketball team avenged an early conference loss by downing the Lady Warriors 66-62 in NWAC East action on Wednesday (February 8).

Despite trailing by as many as 17 points mid-way through the third quarter, the Lady Warriors would mount a furious rally to cut the Lady Viking lead to one (60-59) with just over two minutes to play. However, that's as close as they would get, as seconds later, freshman Skylee Hopkins knocked down her 5th three-pointer of the game, and would seal the win from the free-throw line in the remaining seconds.

Hopkins led the Lady Vikings with 17 points while sophomore Ambra Hacker was not far behind with 16 points. Freshman Dakota Killian added 13 points, while sophomore Callie Tolman chipped in 11. Paige Pentzer led the Lady Warriors with 21 points.

The Lady Vikings (13-10 overall, 7-4 NWAC East) now turn their attention to their longest road trip of the year on Saturday (February 11), traveling to Oregon to battle Treasure Valley Community College (3-18 overall, 1-9 NWAC East), a team they defeated 63-50 back in January. The game is scheduled to tip at 2:00pm PST, with the men's game to follow. As always, keep up with the Lady Vikings on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram, as well as through the NWACSports Network's livestream video platform, where available.
