Turnovers Costly For Lady Vikings

Despite holding a slim one-point lead at the half, after scoring 20 points in the second quarter, turnovers would continue to plague the Big Bend Community College Lady Vikings basketball team, as they fell 56-48 on the road to host North Idaho College on Wednesday (February 1).

The Lady Vikings would make several runs throughout the game, but their 24 turnovers would prove detrimental, especially given the game was one of their lower-scoring contests of the season but also, comparatively speaking, because their opponent's turnovers were significantly lower at 13.

Sophomore Callie Tolman would lead the Lady Vikings in scoring, with 14 of her 17 game-high points coming in the second quarter. Sophomore Ambra Hacker was the only other Lady Viking reaching double figures, as she finished with 14 points. Freshman Macy Hellstern led the team with teen rebounds. For the Lady Cardinals, Addie Kiefer finished with 11 points to lead the winning squad.

The Lady Vikings (11-10 overall, 5-4 NWAC East) will be back in the friendly confines of the Devries Activity Center for their next contest, as they host Spokane Community College (4-12 overall, 4-5 NWAC East) on Saturday (February 4). In the season's first matchup of both schools, the Lady Vikings came through with late-game heroics to secure the 71-69 win over the host Sasquatch. Gametime for the second matchup is set for 2pm, with the men's game to follow. As always, keep up with the Lady Vikings on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram, as well as through the NWACSports Network's livestream video platform, where available.
