Lady Vikes Come Up Empty Versus Cardinals and Sasquatch

Struggling to begin conference play the Lady Vikes looked to find thier stride. BBCC softball had the opportunity to make up some ground this week as they took on the North Idaho Cardinals and the Spokane Falls Sasquatch.

The busy week began by traveling to Coeur D'alene, ID to battle it out for two against the NIC Cardinals. Game one was a struggle for the Lady Vikes as they were only able to collect two hits, one from Alexis Bicondova and one from Kaitlyn Rosenburg giving little wiggle room for BBCC pitching. The big inning haunted the Lady Vikes yet again giving up 7 in the 4th inning putting game one to bed by a score of 8-0 in favor of the Cardinals.

Game two began with the Lady Vikes striking in the top half of the first only to surrender one in the bottom half, 4 in the second, 6 in the 3rd and 4 in the 4th to cap off a ten run mercy rule for the Cardinals by a score of 15-5. Rebecca Carson collected two hits in game two including a double, along with Kaitlyn Rosenburg adding two hits, with Maya Valdez hitting a three-run homerun in the loss.

BBCC then traveled to Spokane Falls CC to take on the Squatch. Game one showed signs of life for the BBCC offense as they collected 14 hits with Anu Nakamura-Stein going a perfect 3-3, Kaitlyn Rosenburg, Baliee Leatherwood, Alyssa Krause, Rebecca Carson and Chloe Pierce all collecting two hits a piece. With the offensive effort was quickly deflated by the defense committing 6 errors resulting in an 11-5 loss.

Hoping to end the week on a high note the Lady Vikes prepared for game two but fell victim to multiple big innings along with several defensive miscues. Game two was quiet for the BBCC offense collecting 5 hits and scoring two runs with hits from Chloe Pierce, Alyssa Krause, Maya Valdez, Bailee Leatherwood and Kaitlyn Rosenburg. With little offense and defensive support, it was an uphill battle for the Lady Vike pitching who surrendered 14 runs wrapping up a tough week for the Lady Vikes.
