The Big Bend Community College men's basketball team hosted the Big Bend Invitational this past weekend, delivering a stellar performance with three consecutive victories.
Game 1: BBCC vs. Elite Sports Academy
The Vikings opened the tournament with a dominant display against Elite Sports Academy. BBCC came out firing, hitting 65% of their shots from the field, including an impressive 5-for-7 from beyond the arc. Gideon Harris led the charge in the first half, contributing nine points, seven rebounds, and four assists to give the Vikings a 42-25 halftime lead. In the second half, Kaden Larson took the reins with eight points and three assists, leading BBCC to a commanding 87-57 victory. Ian Hillman topped the scoring charts with 13 points, while Harris flirted with a triple-double, posting 11 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists.
Game 2: BBCC vs. Elite Postgrad
In their second matchup, the Vikings continued their winning ways, defeating Elite Postgrad 76-60. Idenorbemeh Braimoh paced the Vikings with 13 points, while Kayden Meadows, Barkale Johnson, and Miguel Taylor each contributed double-digit scoring performances to secure the win.
Game 3: BBCC vs. Carroll College JV
The final game of the invitational saw BBCC take on Carroll College JV. After quick starts in their previous games, the Vikings found themselves trailing 35-32 at halftime. However, a strong second half saw BBCC outscore Carroll College by 18 points, resulting in a 77-62 triumph. Gil Gonzalez led the scoring with 14 points, and Gideon Harris notched his second double-double of the weekend with 11 points and 11 assists.
