Runnin' Vikes Drop 5th Straight

Runnin' Vikes Drop 5th Straight

Looking to snap a 4 game losing streak, the Runnin' Vikes made their longest trip of the season down to Ontario, OR to face off versus the Treasure Valley Chukars.

Struggling as a team offensively, the Vikes needed to find a way to knock down shots to give their elite defense an opportunity to shine. The first half started off with the Vike shooting a stellar 44% from the floor with the difference maker being the offensive glass. BBCC gave up 11 offensive rebounds in the first half to TVCC resulting in 11 more shot opportunities for the Chukars. Although BBCC outshot the Chukars 44% to 38%, the second chance shots proved to be the difference as Big Bend went into halftime down 38-22.

The Runnin' Vikes knew they would have to crash the boards in the second half to be able to chip away at the 16 point deficit, while continuing to shoot the ball well. The Vikes shooting slowed down slightly, dropping to 39% in the second half but limited TVCC to 5 offensive rebounds over the final 20 minutes. BBCC's defense came alive in the second half and limited Treasure Valley to just 18 points. Unfortunately, the hole that had been dug in the first half was too much to overcome as the Vikes dropped their 5th straight game with a final score of 56-48. LJ Ginnis led the offense with 11 points, while Francois-Dony Baba was the only other Viking able to crack double digit points with 10 in the loss.

Head Coach Jason Hopkins was unavailable to comment regarding the loss.

BBCC has a bye this upcoming Wednesday allowing for extra rest prior to their road trip down to Pendleton, OR to face off versus the Blue Mountain Community College Timberwolves.

As always, keep up with the Vikings on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram, as well as through the NWACSports Network's livestream video platform, where available.
