Runnin' Vikes Run Out Of Gas In Second Half

Coming off of a massive road win versus Spokane, BBCC hoped to use that momentum as they prepared for just their second home contest of the season. The Runnin' Vikes hosted Treasure Valley Community College at the Devries Activity Center on Saturday January 13th looking to get above the .500 mark in conference play.

The first half was a true back and forth battle between the Vikes and the Chukars as each team shot 42% from the floor. Diego Carrera led the Vikes with 11 first half points on 4-5 shooting including three long balls accounting for 9 of his 11 points while Gil Gonzalez did his part chipping in with 9 points on an efficient 4-6 shooting. With quality play from both teams, BBCC headed into halftime with a 31-30 lead. 

The second half was lopsided compared to the neck and neck battle that the first half was with Treasure Valley shooting and impressive 52% from the floor compared to BBCC's 32% while out rebounding the Vikes 15-7 in the second half. With an offensive edge as well as doubling BBCC on he boards TVCC was able to outscore the Vikes 41-34 in the final 20 minutes resulting in a final score of 71-65 in favor of the Chukars. Diego Carrera and Gil Gonzalez continued to carry the Viking offense with Carrera finishing with 19 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks to round out his night while Gonzalez finished with 20 points 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in the Viking loss. 

BBCC has a bye this upcoming Wednesday putting their next game on Saturday January 20th as they host the Blue Mountain Community College Timberwolves.
