Five Vikes Take Home All-Conference Honors
Although the season did not end the way that the Viking Baseball program had wanted, five Vikes received recognition for their exceptional play.
Freshman left handed pitcher Brendan McKinley was awarded 2nd Team Pitcher after being dominant in his starting role making 11 starts and throwing 62 2/3 innings with 47 strikeouts and an impressive 2.44 ERA going 6-3.
Freshman infielder Oak Held was awarded 1st Team Infield and proved to be one of the Vikes best offensive weapons hitting .326 with 10 doubles, 2 triples and 2 homeruns while driving in 28 runs.
Freshman outfielder Ryley Doig was awarded 1st Team Outfield after a monstrous freshman season hitting .293 with 7 doubles, 5 triples, 4 homeruns, 14 stolen bases, 37 RBI's and a league leading 14 outfield assists.
Sophomore pitcher Hayden Schooler was awarded 1st Team Pitcher after throwing 60 innings with a 3.00 ERA while striking out 78 and only surrendering 40 hits. The big right hander managed to toss 122 1/3 innings over his career with a 3.38 ERA while striking out 156 hitters. Schooler is committed to continue his career at New Mexico State University.
Sophomore pitcher James Macrae was awarded 2nd Team Relief Pitcher after dominating out of the bullpen throwing 56 1/3 innings over 17 appearances with a 2.24 ERA. Macrae wraps up an outstanding career as a Viking tossing 97 2/3 innings out of the bullpen with a dazzling 2.49 ERA. James is exploring his many options of playing at the next level with multiple offers on the table.
