Backs To The Wall

The playoffs within reach, the Vikes had the opportunity to put themselves in a spot to compete in the postseason.

BBCC traveled to Yakima Valley CC to begin a critical four game set. Hunter Gibson took the mound in game one but was ultimately let down by his defense which resulted in an early exit. Gibson ended up throwing four innings of four run ball prior to being taken out in hopes to hand the ball to their ace yet again on Saturday. Game one got out of hand early due to poor defense, poor hitting and poor pitching. While only collecting 3 hits, making multiple errors and handing out ten free passes to opposing hitters the Vikes dropped game one by a score of 11-0 in 7 innings.

Hoping to respond in game two and salvage the day, Brayden Weatherman toed the rubber. After giving up three in the first the left hander settled in and tossed 6 2/3 of four run baseball. Hoping that the offense would be up for the challenge after an early deficit, the Vikes scored two in the seventh only to give up an unearned run in the bottom half. A 4-2 ball game in favor of the Yaks went to the 9th where the Vikings had bases loaded two outs and were unable to score resulting in a 4-2 loss.

The Vikes are in must win territory if they wish to continue this season as they host the Yaks on Saturday.
