Vikings Take Three of Four Versus Knights

Vikings Take Three of Four Versus Knights

The Vikes took on the Wenatchee Valley Knights this week in a four game set. Opening up the series at home on Wednesday April 27th Dylan Gardner was handed the ball and put the Vikes on his back. Gardner went 8 innings of shut out baseball striking out 6 without surrendering a run before handing the ball off to Branham Ponce to slam the door of a 2-0 game one victory.

Game two was a different story as the Viking offense came alive and exploded for 14 runs and defeated the Knights by a score of 14-4 in 7 innings. Austin Bunn led the way going 3-4 with a single, triple and home run while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5 while Gabe Passey, Parker Plato and Brandham Ponce each chipped in with 2 hits a piece.

After sweeping at home the Vikes had a quick turn around traveling to Wenatchee a day early and playing on Friday April 29th. The Vikes fell victim to poor defensive play which highly dictated the result of the game. 5 errors and other defensive miscues made it difficult for the Vikes to create momentum and ultimately fell by a score of 9-4.

Game 4 was a back and forth battle with the Vikes working for behind on multiple occasions. Manufacturing 2 runs in the 8th inning to tie the game up at 5, this final game required an extra inning to settle the score. Brandham Ponce carried the Vikings to a 7-5 victory going 3-5 at the plate, with two RBI's and scoring a run along with tossing 3 innings of shut out ball with striking out four collecting his 6th save of the season. Kai Jones went 2-4 at the plate and had a season high 4 RBI's while Jett Nelson and Mookie Redmond each chipped in with 2 hits a piece.

The Vikings travel to Ontario, OR on Wednesday May 4th followed by hosting the Chukars on Saturday May 7th for their second to last series of the regular season.
