Runnin' Vikes Drop 2 of 3 at Bigfoot Classic

Hoping to get on track after dropping their first three games of the 2023 campaign, the Runnin' Vikes traveled to Spokane, WA to compete in the Bigfoot Classic. BBCC saw some familiar faces in their three games, battling it out with three other Eastern Region teams.

The Vikings began the weekend by taking on the Yakima Valley Yaks in a back and forth battle. After being tied at 38 at half time, it came down to the wire with the Yaks edging out the Vikes by five points in the second half resulting in a final score of 79-74 in favor of Yakima Valley. DJ Frye was the Runnin' Vikes leading scorer with 19 points on 8-17 shooting while ripping down 7 boards. Jeremy Devoe chipped in with 15 points and 7 rebounds along with Garin Macfarlane adding a bakers dozen in points, 7 rebounds and leading BBCC in the assist category with 5.

BBCC then took on the Timberwolves of Blue Mountain Community College in a nail biter. Once again DJ Frye led the Vikes offensively with 24 points on an efficient 10-16 shooting while corralling 8 rebounds along with KaRon Sears adding 23 points and 6 rebounds. After trailing by six points at the break, the Runnin' Vikes were able to turn it on and overcome the deficit and come out victorious by a score of 88-87.

The Runnin' Vikes took on the host for their final game of the tournament hoping to close out the weekend on a high note. Trailing by 16 at the break did not deter the Vikes from battling till the end. BBCC was able to outscore the Squatch in the second half but it was not enough to overcome the halftime deficit as BBCC fell to 1-2 on the weekend after falling to the host by a score of 79-71. Garin Macfarlane led the way for the Vikes with 25 points, 9 rebounds and a team high 4 assists, while Jeremy Devoe chipped in with a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, rounded out by DJ Frye adding in 18 points and 4 rebounds.
