Vikings Basketball Drop 3 of 4

The Lady Vikes took on the Yakima Valley Yaks on Saturday February 19th at the Devries Activity Center in Moses Lake, WA. Facing off against the last place team in the Eastern Region, BBCC looked to take care of business and did just that. Led by Ambra Hacker with 20 points on an efficient 8-12 shooting as well as collecting 9 rebounds, Mia Nottingham chipped in with 9 points and 4 rebounds along with Kaitlyn Anderson with 6 points on 3-5 shooting and grabbing 5 rebounds leading to victory by a score of 68-54. 

Coming off of a quality team win, BBCC hit the road on Wednesday to take on the Wenatchee Valley Knights on February 23rd in Wenatchee, WA. A hard fought battle went back and forth. BBCC outscored the Knights in the first and fourth quarter while the Knights took the second and third quarter. Ambra Hacker led the way on the offensive end of the floor again putting up 22 points and 7 rebounds, Kassidy Alder added a bakers dozen in points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds in addition to Kaitlyn Callahan chipping in with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Although another quality team effort the Lady Vikes fell short by a score of 74-62. 

 

The Men also took on the Yaks of Yakima Valley on Saturday February 19th at the Devries Activity Center trying to get back into the win column. The Runnin' Vikes struggled from the floor, shooting 18% from behind the arc, 58% from the charity stripe and 33% from the floor resulting in 10 point loss with a final score of 75-65. KaRon Sears put together a solid performance with 18 points on 8-19 shooting with 4 rebounds and 4 assists along with DJ Frye scoring 16 points and grabbing 9 rebounds, while Kevin Young put together his best showing of the season posting a double double with 13 points and a season high 14 rebounds. 

Following the loss to the Yaks the Runnin' Vikes traveled to Wenatchee to take on the Knights on Wednesday February 23rd. A hard fought battle between the Vikes and the Knights came down to the wire but the Knights came out on top with a final score of 96-91. A significantly better shooting night for the Vikes resulted in four Vikes racking up double digit points. Led by Keenan Miller with 23 points and 6 rebounds, Kevin Young collecting his second straight double double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, Aaron Canepari scoring a season high 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists along with DJ Frye putting up 15 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. 

 

Men's and Women's Basketball head to Pendleton,OR this Saturday to take on the Blue Mountain Community College Timberwolves.
