Vikings Volleyball Opening Weekend

The Lady Vikes opened up their 2021-2022 season on the road playing in Bellingham for two matches on Friday, August 27th and two matches on Saturday, August 28th in Skagit, WA. 

Opening up against the host, Whatcom Community College, the Lady Vikes fell in three sets pushing the middle set to extra points finishing with a score of 30-28. BBCC executed 11 kills over the three sets, led by Gabriella Rios and Elli Rodgers who posted 7 out of the 11 kills. 

The Vikes battled hard in the middle two matches against Everett Community College and Shoreline Community pushing the matches to 5 and 4 sets. After close sets, BBCC fell 3-2 versus Everett and but finished strong by taking the final two sets 25-11 and 15-5. 

Saturday's matches started against Shoreline where the solid work of BBCC led them to taking the second set 25-20, but falling short in sets 3 and 4 with a close score of 22-25 and 23-25.

Wrapping up the weekend with Skagit Valley Community College the Lady Vikes pushed hard against Saturday's host losing three close sets and pushing the final game to extra points with a final score of 30-28. With the offense beginning to fire, the Vikings accumulated almost 20 points in each set, BBCC had many players contribute. Gabriella Rios led the charge with 7 kills, Elli Rodgers and Mya Buchert added 3 a piece as well as contributions from Jordyn Adams and Myah Gallinger with two kills. The Lady Vikes continue to grow in preparation for their next match versus CBC.
