Lady Viking Softball To Take 2023-24 Season Hiatus

On Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023, Big Bend Community College Director of Athletics John Meeks announced that the difficult but necessary decision had been made to pause softball operations for the 2023-24 season.

"Despite attracting a strong field of candidates, our utmost focus has been on plotting a long-term course for our program, combined with an elevated level of care and concern for the girls within our program, " stated Meeks. "While we are disappointed that there will not be a 2023-24 season, our girls are excited for the future and to be part of the foundation of this build. They have pledged a commitment to doing whatever it takes to move this program forward, and I could not be more proud of their maturity and work ethic, in the face of all adversity. We are confident that Interim Head Coach Alexa Moser will continue to do a fantastic job in leading the program, as we aggressively but methodically pursue our next head coach. With newly dedicated program resources and improvements, coupled with a visionary leader carrying the baton as head coach, we cannot wait to see what the future holds for Lady Viking Softball!"
