Lady Vikes Knock Off Rust

Lady Vikes Knock Off Rust

Coming off a bye week, the Lady Vikes hoped to come out energized as they headed to Wenatchee Valley College to take on the Knights. Unfortunately this was not the case, Moser noted prior to the match "After a nice break in action with a bye Wednesday, I thought we'd come out on fire but we were on our heels. Wenatchee is a strong and powerful team and we knew they would come out swinging"

A bye week is a double edged sword, on one side it allows for a mental a physical break, but on the other it can be difficult to step right back into game speed. It appeared that the Lady Vikes had to knock off a bit of rust in Fridays match, Moser had this to say regarding the BBCC miscues. "One of the things that absolutely killed us was our serving. We had way too many missed serves and that's just giving free points away. And then when you back off and aren't serving as tough, we made it easy on Wenatchee and it put them in system all night and we couldn't stop that. We switched up lineups in the second set and it kind of got things going and the girls fought back but when you dig yourselves a hole of 7 points at the beginning of the set. It's hard to come all the way back from that."

A rusty Lady Vikes versus a high powered Knight offense created a lopsided match for the home team. The Knights took three straight sets by scores of 25-12, 25-18 and 25-16. After a sluggish match for BBCC Head Coach Alexa Moser stated "We just have to chalk it up as a learning experience. There's always lessons to learn in every match and the biggest takeaway is just knowing teams aren't going to give us points, we have to work for them. And so it's bettering the ball every time we make a play on it because the second we take a break and back off, teams will always take advantage of that. It's competing every point in every set."

After a playing one match in the past nine days the Lady Vikes have a busy week as they travel to Spokane on Monday October 9th, followed by hosting Yakima Valley College on Wednesday October 11th and they wrap up their busy week by heading to Walla Walla to battle it out against the Warriors on Friday October 13th.
