BBCC Prepares For Home Opener

BBCC Prepares For Home Opener

Coming off a full weekend, the Men's Wrestling Program geared up for another weekend full of competition as they competed at Grays Harbor Community College on Saturday November 11th, followed by competing in the Mike Clock Open on Sunday.

Having only one placer in the previous tournament, the Vikes hoped to bring home more hardware with competition on back to back days. Although BBCC only managed to place one in the Mike Clock Open, Liam Lucas was able to take home third. Head Coach Daviaire Dickerson had this to say regarding the weekend, "This past weekend we had a Dual on Saturday against Grays Harbor came out slow and never got any momentum. Sunday was the Make Clock Open. We had a shift in mind set. We wrestled tough won some really good matches and lost some closes matches to top talent."

Struggling to get momentum early can set the tone for a season. Dickerson had this message for his squad following the weekend "Believe! From Saturday to Sunday morning we focused on mentality. Believing we belong at big tournaments. Believing that every time we step on the mat we have a chance to win."

Dickerson is optimistic moving forward although their first conference match did not go in their favor. "Losing our first conference dual to Grays Harbor was not ideal but we did have great matches against good competition from all levels D1, D2, NAIA, and Junior College."

BBCC gets ready for another busy weekend of wrestling as they host the Big Bend Scramble this upcoming Saturday, followed by competing the Spokane Open on Sunday.

As always, keep up with the Lady Vikings on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram, as well as through the NWACSports Network's livestream video platform, where available.
