Kali Kast Shines In Weekend Split

Kali Kast Shines In Weekend Split

BBCC opened up a two game set at home by hosting Gonzaga Club followed by battling it out versus an NWAC competitor in Shoreline Community College.

Game one of the weekend was lopsided to say the least. The gist of the game was told in the first quarter with Gonzaga Club only managing to score 2 points on 1-17 shooting and BBCC going into the second quarter with a 15 point lead. With the game relatively out of hand early on, BBCC took this opportunity for all members of the squad to contribute in the inevitable victory. With 9 of 10 Lady Vikes finding the bottom of the basket at least once, BBCC was able to coast to a 36 point victory led by Kali Kast who dropped 28 points along with Riley Layton recording a double double with 13 points and 13 rebounds in the Big Bend win.

After being on the winning end of game one, the Lady Vikes hoped to complete the weekend sweep as they faced off versus Shoreline Community College the following day. Unfortunately, Big Bend experienced both extremes of winning and losing. BBCC hung in early trailing by one point after the first quarter, but Shoreline was able to extend their lead going into the break as the Dolphins went into half time up by 10. The second half favored Shoreline as they managed to outscore BBCC by 15 resulting in an 86-61 loss for the Lady Vikes. Riley Layton recorded her second consecutive double double posting 15 points and 10 rebounds with Kali Kast approaching a double double of her own with 10 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.

BBCC prepares to host Northwest Indian College on Tuesday December 12th at the Devries Activity Center at 5:30pm.
