Early Deficit Too Much For Vikings

Early Deficit Too Much For Vikings

A 15-point hole midway through the first half would be too difficult a hill to climb, as the Big Bend Community College Vikings men's basketball team fell on the road Saturday (February 11) to Treasure Valley Community College 89-76 in NWAC East action.

Despite cutting the Chukars' lead to only seven points at the half (46-39), and as few as five points (49-44) early in the second half, the Vikings could gain no momentum throughout the remainder of the contest, dropping their seventh straight contest.

The Vikings placed three in double figures, led by sophomore DJ Frye's 22 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Sophomore Karon Sears finished with 14 points, followed closely by sophomore Keenan Miller with 13 points. For the Chukars, Garret Longs' 25 points were tops in the win.

The Vikings (4-17 overall, 2-10 NWAC East) return home this week for their final two home games. On Wednesday (February 15), the Vikings will play host to Columbia Basin College (17-5 overall, 7-5 NWAC East), winners of the first meeting between the two on January 18th 81-56. Tip is scheduled for 7:30pm, following the women's contest. As always, stay updated on all-things-Viking through FacebookTwitter, and Instagram, as well as via the NWACSports Network's livestream video platform, where available.
