Vikes Win Series Finale

After a rocky start to the 2023 conference schedule, BBCC Baseball was looking to salvage the series versus the Columbia Basin Hawks on Saturday April 15th at home.

Game one was a back and forth battle between the two, with stellar starting pitching from both sides. Hayden Schooler got the start and threw 5 1/3 innings of 2 run ball while striking out 6 before handing it over to the bullpen. The bullpen took care of business holding it at a 4-4 ball game going into the 9th inning hoping to throw up a zero in the top half to give them a shot to walk it off in the bottom half. Unfortunately back to back costly errors to begin the 9th inning by Viking defense was the final blow before the game got out of hand. The two errors resulted in a 6 run inning for the Hawks ending the game by a score of 10-4. 

Game to two was the Vikes shot to salvage the series and end the four game set on a high note. Brayden Weatherman was up to the task tossing 5 innings of shut out baseball before handing it off to Brett Nemechek and Heath Hachkowski who were able to complete the final innings. Solid pitching took the pressure off of the offense who were able to scratch across 3 runs with multi-hit games from Tyler Balkenbush and Andrew Aitken to take the Vikes to a 3-1 victory.
