Powered by the offensive hitting of Sadie Nielsen and Brynn McKnight, the defensive play of Kiana Miller, and offensive direction of Madison Shrope and Martina Wilder, the Vikings Volleyball team rebounded from consecutive Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) East Region losses with a Wednesday night sweep of Yakima Valley. With the win, Big Bend (15-10, 5-5) moved back to the .500 mark in conference play and stay neck and neck with Walla Walla (14-3, 4-4) for the fourth and final playoff spot in the East region.
Nielsen and McKnight dominated the net with 15 and 14 kills respectively with McKnight doubling up with 10 digs as well while Kiana Miller kept the ball off the floor on the defensive side with 29 digs. Shrope (20) and Wilder (19) controlled the offense dishing out a combined 39 assists as the Lady Vikings made their way back into the win column.
With six conference games remaining, it still looks like it will be a photo finish between the Vikings and the Warriors in the East region for the final playoff spot. It could all come down to BBCC's final game of the season in a must-win showdown with Walla Walla on Friday, Nov. 8th.
But before we move too far ahead, the Lady Vikings return to action on the road Friday night in Wenatchee Valley. The Lady Vikings swept the Knights in their first meeting of the season. If you can't make the trip, you can stream the game live on the Wenatchee Valley Athletics YouTube page "WVC Athletics".
