Dominant Third Quarter Leads To Lady Viking Win

Dominant Third Quarter Leads To Lady Viking Win

Finding themselves in an 11-0 hole to start the contest and trailing 32-25 at the half, the Big Bend Community College Lady Vikings women's basketball squad would use a 16-2 run to start the second half, propeling them to a 64-55 win versus the visiting Spokane Community College Lady Sasquatch.

Despite controlling the contest for nearly the entire first half, the Lady Sasquatch would only score five points in the third quarter, thanks to a stingy Lady Viking defense that limited them to 15% shooting from the field in the quarter, and 35% overall for the game.

The Lady Vikings were led by freshman Skylee Hopkins' 18 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Macy Hellstern and sophomore Ambra Hacker both finished with 15 points, while Hellstern added seven rebounds to her stat line. Madeline Gebers led the Lady Sasquatch with 24 points in the loss.

The Lady Vikings (12-10 overall, 6-4 NWAC East) now turn their attention to a pivotal home contest on Wednesday (February 8), as they play host to NWAC East-leading Walla Walla Community College (18-4 overall, 8-2 NWAC East). Back on January 4th, the Lady Vikings found themselves on the wrong end of an 82-43 decision, in their worst loss of the season. The Lady Vikings' revenge efforts are set for 5:30pm, with the men's game to follow. As always, keep up with the Lady Vikings on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram, as well as through the NWACSports Network's livestream video platform, where available.
