BBCC's Valverde & Barney earn NFCA/NWAC All-American Honors

Big Bend Softball's Lynsey Valverde and Aubree Barney were recognized as National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) All-Americans Thursday night at the championship banquet held in Spokane.

The sophomores were nominated and voted on by all 26 of the NWAC head softball coaches.

Aubree Barney, from Salem Hills High School in Salem, UT, played in 43 games with 135 at-bats and ended the regular season with 53 hits,  a .400 batting average, 13 doubles, and 14 home runs. She drove in 56 runs, scored 59 runs, and also stole 14 bases while racking up an on-base percentage of .484. Barney also earned 21 walks while striking out just 6 times.

Lynsey Valverde, from Bear River High School in North Harrisville, UT, played in 44 games with 161 at-bats and ended the regular season with 74 hits, a .460 batting average, 19 doubles, 1 triple, and 17 home runs. She drove in 71 runs, scored 63 runs, and stole 21 bases while boasting a .509 on-base percentage. Valverde also earned 13 walks and struck out just 12 times. She had an outstanding .907 slugging percentage as well.
