WENATCHEE — Big Bend softball made up some ground in the NWAC East standings after sweeping Wenatchee Valley 12-4 and 13-9.
The Vikings (13-5, 19-7) have an identical league record as the Knights, but now hold a crucial head-to-head tiebreaker.
Big Bend took control of the opener with a 3-run second inning and 4-run third. Lynsey Valverde hit a 2-run double and later scored on a sacrifice fly in the second inning.
The Knights drew within five runs after scoring three times in the fourth inning, however, the Vikings answered with three runs in the visitor's half of the fifth.
Royal High School graduate McDarra Von Stein drove in two runs and scored once for the Knights.
In Game 2, Big Bend broke a 9-9 tie with four runs in the seventh inning. Saneishi hit a bases-clearing triple to give Big Bend the lead. Aubrey Barney hit a game-tying 2-run home run in the sixth inning.
