Vikings Bounce Back with Win Over Treasure Valley

Following a heartbreaking loss to Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday, Big Bend Community College responded with a strong performance at home, defeating Treasure Valley Community College 76-66 on Saturday, February 8, at the DeVries Activity Center.

The Vikings set the tone early with a stifling defensive effort, limiting TVCC to just 32% shooting from the field in the first half. Meanwhile, BBCC capitalized on their offensive opportunities, shooting 48% from the floor, including a sharp 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. With the shooting disparity, BBCC entered halftime with a comfortable 35-24 lead.

As the second half unfolded, TVCC began to claw their way back, improving their shooting percentage to 45% while knocking down five three-pointers. However, BBCC responded by dominating the paint, shooting an impressive 64% from the floor in the final 20 minutes. The Vikings' inside presence proved to be the difference, outscoring the Chukars 44-24 in the paint to secure the ten-point victory.

Gil Gonzalez led the charge for BBCC, scoring 18 points on an efficient 7-of-11 shooting. Gideon Harris provided a solid contribution as well, adding 14 points to the scoreboard. The Vikings' defense and interior control were key factors in sealing the win. Head Coach Jason Hopkins was unavailable to comment regarding the victory.

Next up, BBCC hits the road for a quick trip to Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Washington, on Wednesday, February 12, looking to build on their momentum.
