Vikings Fall On Sophomore Night

Vikings Fall On Sophomore Night

Despite trailing by only three points at the half, the Big Bend Community College Vikings basketball team struggled offensively in the second half Saturday (February 18), as the visiting Yaks of Yakima Valley College cruised to an 84-66 NWAC East win in the Vikings' final home game of the season.

On sophomore night, the 'big three' showed up for the Vikings in a 'big' way, but it was not enough, as the Yaks' bench outscored that of the Vikings 46-17. Sophomore DJ Frye wrapped up his final game in the Devries Activity Center with 19 points, while fellow sophomore Keenan Miller finished with 14 points and a team-high ten rebounds. Sophomore Karon Sears was the lone other Viking in double figures with 11. Jamon Kemp led the Yaks with 16 points.

The Vikings (4-19 overall, 2-12 NWAC East) will close out the 2022-2023 season with two final road games, traveling first to Wenatchee Valley College (7-18 overall, 3-10 NWAC East) on Wednesday (February 22) for a rematch of a January 21st contest that saw the Vikings fall to the visiting Knights 96-79. Tip is scheduled for 4:00pm, following the women's contest. As always, stay updated on all-things-Viking through FacebookTwitter, and Instagram, as well as via the NWACSports Network's livestream video platform, where available.
