Both the Runnin' Vikes and Lady Vikes were able to snap four-game losing streaks on the road in Pendleton OR, Saturday defeating Blue Mountain.
RUNNIN' VIKES 93, BLUE MOUNTAIN 83
Big Bend (8-16, 2-6) came out firing on all cylinders Saturday against the Timberwolves (4-17, 0-8)hitting 54.8 percent of its shots in the first half and taking a 17-point lead into the locker room. Kahler Kahana led the first-half charge scoring 18 of his 22 total points and connecting on 4-of-6 attempts from behind the 3-point arc.
Jahvontae' Jones also had a hot hand offensively matching Kahana's 22 points and adding 7 rebounds. Payton Nielson and Landon Harrington each finished in double figures offensively with 12 points with Nielsen adding 10 boards for the double-double.
LADY VIKES 62, BLUE MOUNTAIN 46
Big Bend (10-11, 2-6) was able to outwork Blue Mountain (2-7, 0-8) on the glass to make up for a tough night shooting behind the 3-point stripe. The Lady Vikes outrebounded the Timberwolves 45-34 in large part to another big game on the Boards from Anna Yarbro. Yarbro grabbed 16 rebounds to go along with 15 points and 4 steals to help BBCC end a 4-game losing streak.
Maelyn Mace also turned in a solid performance filling up the stat sheet with a game-high 16 points with 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and a block.
Both teams will look to make it two-in-a-row on Wednesday when they travel to Columbia Basin College in Pasco, WA.
