2018-19 Vikings Softball Recruits

Here's a list of the newest additions to the Big Bend Community College Softball Team for the 2018-19 Season!

 

Riley Newbold

Riley Newbold, Cyprus High School, Magna, UT:

Riley is a C/OF who plays for the Utah Liberty Club Team.  A high school varsity player for four years, Rookie of the Year as a freshman, 1st Team All-Region as a sophomore, Team MVP, and 2nd Team All-State honors.  As a junior, she was awarded the "C-House" Award.  Riley is involved in community service projects and playing for special causes such as the Wounded Warrior Amputee softball team and the 9/11 Healing Fields and the rest of her Utah Liberty team in supporting military veterans.

Mayda Rieflin

Mayda Rieflin, Lynnwood High School, Bothell, WA:

Mayda is a P/OF who plays for the Snohomish Shock Gold Club Team.  A varsity starter for all four years at Lynnwood, softball captain her senior year and was a second-team All-WESCO pitcher. She garnered player of the week honors after an 11 strikeout two HR performance this year. Mayda loves to work with life skills kids at Lynnwood high school. 

Maya Saneishi

Maya Saneishi, Mililani Prep High School, Oahu, HI:

Maya is an OF/INF who was a four-year starter on her varsity high school team.  She received Honorable Mention All-state recognition her Junior and Senior year. Maya was also selected to play in the state's Goodwill Tournament her senior year.  She will be graduating Magna Cum Laude and will be receiving a CTE honors certificate as well as an Academic Honors certificate.

Taryn Mathews

Taryn Mathews, Selah High School, Selah, WA:

Taryn is an OF/C who plays for the Ellensburg Synergy Club Team.  A varsity player all four years and her high school team placed no worse than 5th in the state all four of her years.  She garnered second team All-CWAC her Junior and Senior years.  She has worked at the Madd Hatters Haunt for the past 8 years and the Viking Explorers to raise money for local high school students to travel to Washington DC. 

Hunter Duke

Hunter Duke, Cashmere High School, Cashmere, WA:

Hunter will be a dual sports athlete playing softball, OF/UTL, as well as wrestling.  She plays for the Canes Club Team.  She garnered second-team All-League her Junior year. A multi-sport athlete, Hunter also participated in wrestling, basketball, and track.  Team captain in wrestling and track her senior year as well as a state participant in both sports. Hunter was part of the FFA and National Honor Society, was the NHS treasurer and the Cashmere High School 2018 FFA Nation Champions.

Alyssa Ray recruit

Alyssa Ray, Echo High School, Echo, OR:

Alyssa is a P/1B who plays for the USA Explosion Club Team.  four-year varsity player at Echo, she helped her team make the state tournament three out of her four years.  She was team captain her senior year and garnered 1st team All-League and 1st team All-eastern Oregon her senior year. She maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school; Class Valedictorian. Alyssa participated in the Key Club, National Honor Society, ASB, the Knowledge Bowl and volleyball.

Maddie Bowles recruit

Maddie Bowles, Riverton High School, Riverton, UT:

Maddie is a 3B/SS who has played softball for the last six years for the Utah Liberty Club Team. As a high school varsity player, she received the "Golden Miner" Award and Defensive Player of the Year Awards during her high school career.  Maddie volunteers much of her time in the community, in particular setting up flags for the 9/11 Healing Fields where they set up a flag for every life lost on that tragic day and working with her Utah Liberty team in supporting military veterans.

Hanna Reid recruit

Hanna Reid, Bingham High School, South Jordan, UT:

Hanna is a 1B/3B who has played softball for the last nine years for the Utah Liberty Club Team. A varsity starter during all four years of high school, she received her team's Leadership and Defensive Player of the Year awards during her sophomore and junior seasons. Hanna earned all-region and all-state honors each of her four years in high school and has performed just as well off the field where she was also an honor student all four years. When not on the softball field, Hanna volunteers her time at homeless shelters, animal shelters, and spending time with cancer patients. Her Utah Liberty team is also very active in supporting military veterans.

Dakota Egbert

Dakota Egbert, Connell High School, Connell, WA:

Dakota played for the USA Explosion Club Team.  She lettered all four years for Connell High School.  She garnered 2nd Team All-league her Junior and Senior year and helped Connell to the state tournament her Freshman and Senior year.  She was on the Connell High School Honor Roll and a Senior Scholar for business.  She enjoys tutoring reading and math at the elementary level.
