Lady Vikes Take Two at Home

Lady Vikes Take Two at Home

The Lady Vikes hosted the Columbia Basin College Hawks on Tuesday March 29th for a double header hoping to get back on track after dropping two games to Walla Walla CC and did just that.

BBCC jumped out to an early lead versus the Hawks in game one but the Hawks were able to respond and led by a score of 6-4 going into the bottom of the sixth inning where the Lady Vikes were able to scratch across two runs to tie the game up at six going into the final inning. BBCC pitching was able to throw up a much needed zero in the top half of the 7th inning allowing the Lady Vikes the opportunity to walk it off, and they did just that defeating the Hawks by a score of 7-6. Danielle Brklacich, Myia Ockey and Marleigh Horrocks all had two hits while Olivia McKinnon and Gates Leatherwood did the heavy lifting driving in four of the seven Viking runs leading them to victory.

After an emotional game one victory both teams came out firing in game two scoring a combined 11 runs in the first 3 innings of play. Although both teams offenses were rolling BBCC managed to pull away in the final inning to complete the sweep by a score of 11-8. Led by Baliee Leatherwood who went 3-4 at the plate with 3 RBI's including a home run, Truh Merriman also chipped in with a solid 3-4 day, scoring twice as well as contributing a solo home run, and rounding out the Lady Vikings offensive explosion was Bella Brinkman who collected 2 hits including a home run and scoring twice.

The Lady Vikes prepare for a double header versus Treasure Valley in Ontario, OR on Friday April 1st followed by another double header versus Blue Mountain on Saturday in Pendleton, OR.
