Tight Contest Notched by Lady Knights

The Big Bend Community College Lady Vikings basketball team found themselves in another back-and-forth East Region battle in as many games, but the road would not be kind to the Lady Vikings this time, as they dropped a 68-61 decision to the homestanding Wenatchee Valley College Lady Knights on Wednesday (February 22).

The Lady Knights got out to a fast start, leading 10-2 seven minutes into the contest. However, the Lady Vikings would creep back into the game, finding themselves down only five (37-32) at the break. The deficit for the Lady Vikings would be a single point (49-48) at the end of the third quarter, seeing their first lead of the game at 50-49 just two minutes into the fourth quarter, off a layup by freshman Skylee Hopkins. The lead would be short-lived, as the Lady Knights scored less than a minute later to retake the lead for good.

Sophomore Ambra Hacker led the Lady Vikings with 19 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Hopkins notched 14 points, while freshman Dakota Killian finished with ten points. For the Lady Knights, Farrah Parrish netted 16 points in the win.

The Lady Vikings (15-12 overall, 9-6 NWAC East) have one game remaining in the regular season, as they travel to Blue Mountain College (4-17 overall, 2-11 NWAC East) on Saturday (February 25). The Lady Vikings remain in the hunt for one of four East Region playoff spots and, in turn, the opportunity to extend their season. Saturday's game is scheduled to tip at 2pm, with the men's game to follow. As always, keep up with the Lady Vikings on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram, as well as through the NWACSports Network's livestream video platform, where available.
