Lady Vikes Drop 3 of 4 on Opening Weekend

The Lady Vikes softball team coached by Kylee Brulotte opened up thier 2023 campaign versus Columbia Basin College in Pasco, WA on Friday March 17th. 

BBCC ran into a tough pitcher in Macao Jackson in both games of their double header who proved difficult to hit. Game one was quiet on both sides on the ball for the Lady Vikes as they were only able to collect 3 hits including a 2-run homerun by Rebecca Carson, while BBCC pitching surrendered 11 runs resulting in an 11-2 loss to open up the season.

Game two was much of the same, BBCC was unable to crack Macao Jackson. While collecting 7 hits in game two, the Lady Vikes were only able to scratch across two runs with Rebecca Carson continuing her stellar offensive day going 2-2 in game two. Pitching struggled giving up 15 runs resulting in a 15-2 loss to begin their season 0-2.

Saturday March 18th was the home opener for the Lady Vikes as they took on Yakima Valley College. 

Game one on Saturday had a similar feel to Friday with the a quiet Lady Viking offense, along with a struggling pitching staff. Riley Pirkle went 2-3 in game one with Chloe Peirce, Rebecca Carson and Kaitlyn Rosenburg chipping in a hit a piece in a 12-2 loss in 5 innings.

After a rough three games to begin the season, the Lady Vikes were looking to get on track and did just that in game 4. The offense came alive collecting 18 hits and scoring 14 runs in 5 innings. Maya Valdez and Kaitlyn Rosenburg had monster games going 3-4 while both driving in 4 runs including a homerun a piece. Bailee Leatherwood, Riley Pirkle, Chloe Peirce and Anu Nakamura-Stein all had multi-hit games leading the Lady Vikes to their first victory of the season.
