Vikings' Season Ends On The Mountain

A tie game at halftime would not be enough to push the Big Bend Community College Vikings basketball team to a win on Saturday (February 25), as they fell to host Blue Mountain Community College 78-63 in NWAC East action.

A back-and-forth first half would see the Vikings maintain a level of control over the Timberwolves, as they would lead by as many as nine points. However, a 10-4 run by the Timberwolves over the final five minutes of the first half would pull both teams even at 28, entering the break. The Timberwolves would continue that momentum into the second half, taking the lead for good in the initial minute of play, and never looking back.

The Vikings placed two in double figures, led by freshman Garin Macfarlane with 20 points, while sophomore DJ Frye wrapped up his career as a Viking with ten points. The Timberwolves placed four in double figures in the win, led by Kash Lang's double-double of 25 points and ten rebounds.

The Vikings end their season at a disappointing 4-21 overall, 2-14 in the rugged NWAC East. However, looking forward to the 2023-2024 season, boasting ten returners, five of which played double figure minutes for the Vikings, the future looks bright for the program. Go Vikes!
