Vikings Basketball Fall to Hawks

After starting off the season 11-1, the Lady Vikes Basketball team has fallen victim to single digit losses. This trend continued on Wednesday February 16th to the Columbia Basin College Hawks losing by a score of 76-73 and dropping their 7th straight game. Another hard fought battle where the Lady Vikes out scored the Hawks by 12 in the second half but could not over come their first half deficit. Kaitlyn Callahan put together a stellar effort racking up 24 points on 9-18 shooting along with Mia Nottingham and Ambra Hacker putting together identical stat lines and nearly reaching a double double with 10 points and 9 rebounds. The Lady Vikes hope to get back in the win column as they take on the Yakima Valley Yaks at home on Saturday February 19th.

 

Columbia Basin brought their A Game to the Devries Activity Center on Wednesday making it difficult for both Viking Basketball teams. The Hawks came out firing and finished shooting 54% from the floor along with 46% from behind the arc making it a challenge for the Runnin Vikes. The Runnin Vikes were able to out score the Hawks in the second half but could not over come their first half deficit falling by a score of 101-85. Keenan Miller led the charge with 29 points on 8-19 shooting with 5 three's, 9 rebounds and 4 steals along with DJ Frye matching his season average in points with 19 as well as collecting 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. 

 

Vikings Basketball takes on the Yakima Valley Community College Yaks on Saturday February 19th at the Devries Activity Center, come out and support the Vikes!
